RR-808 - An authentic TR-808 instrument and sample pack for Ableton Live
silent5RR-808 is a collection of ultra-realistic TR-808 instrument racks, drum racks, and samples for use with Ableton Live (version 9 and up - Standard and Suite are both supported). The instrument and drum racks contained in this pack make use of 4338 individual TR-808 samples*, representing 8 round-robin layers of every perceptible parameter combination for each TR-808 instrument.
The purpose of this Live Pack is to give Ableton Live a completely authentic sounding TR-808, built from the ground up using only devices that are available in Ableton Live Standard. Ableton Live Suite users benefit from an additional Max For Live device that improves the round-robin triggering beyond what is capable with the devices available in Live Suite.

Yep, sorry. Long story short...I had to sell my TR-808, but before letting it go I embarked on a lengthy, obsessive sampling session. I didn't want to be left with a folder full of a few hundred TR-808 samples, I wanted to upload its soul into the simulation, where it can live forever. It turned out better than I expected.
I went to great lengths in order to make this set sound as authentic as possible. For example, the bass drum samples each have three variants: no accent, half accent, and full accent. Why? Because the half accented versions aren't quite as saturated as the fully accented versions. This is why there are more than 800 bass drum samples alone in this pack.
I also paid special attention to the "third hi-hat" sound you get when you trigger the open and closed hats at the same time. I made two variants of that sound as well: CH+OH with no OH decay, and CH+OH with full OH decay.
